Edna Maxine Taylor Hicks, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and church servant, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, surrounded by her four sons and family at Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge.

Edna was born May 15, 1928, in South Fulton, Tennessee, to Joe Claud and Alvie Taylor. She was married May 22, 1946 to Charles Oren Hicks of Fulton, Kentucky. Charles and Edna moved to Baton Rouge in 1953 and then moved to Baker, Louisiana in 1958. She was an active member of Harding Street Baptist Church in Baker for over 40 years where she volunteered as the Church's bookkeeper and for any other projects that would serve the Church. She worked for the Louisiana State Banking Commission and the Louisiana Department of Financial Institutions for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Paul and Omar Taylor and sister Ruth.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives; Steve and Linda Hicks of Baton Rouge, Kerry and Nancy Hicks, of Central, Wayne and Gwen Hicks of Baker, and Donovan and Michelle Hicks of Baton Rouge; one sister, Joye Taylor Sheridan; nine grandchildren, Allyson Hicks, Christopher Hicks and wife, Carrie, Tyler Hicks and wife, Sarah, Meredith Hicks, Wendy Hicks, Ashley Harris and husband, Josh, Caroline Hicks, William Hicks and Stuart Hicks; nine great grandchildren, Alexis, Alaina and Alyssa Hagan; Mason Melancon, Cooper Hicks, Makinley and Berkley Harris and Jude and Joni Hicks.

Pallbearers will be her four sons Steve, Kerry, Wayne, and Donovan and two of her grandsons Tyler and William.

Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 8:30am -10:00am Friday, November 24, 2017 until commencement of religious services conducted by Rev. George Scruggs at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
