Marilyn May Wagner (nee: Alger) , 87 years of age and a resident of Lorain went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
She was born September 24, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was raised in Avon Lake and graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1948. She married the late Charles F. Wagner in 1950 and resided in Lorain until 1968 when they moved to Vermilion where they resided until 1996 when they moved to Colorado. They returned to Lorain in September of 2009.
As well as being a dedicated wife and raising her children, Marilyn also babysat in her home for several years. Later, she worked at Sears in the Midway Mall, worked in the Vermilion High School cafeteria kitchen and then as a secretary at DM Plumbing. Through the years she enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing, cooking, reading, singing, as well as hunting and fishing with her husband. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior has also been a very important part of her life.
She was a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church (originally Penfield Junction Baptist) in Lorain. She also had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky for several years.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters and their husbands Susan M. and Gene Balicki of Hartsel, CO; Barbara J. and Keith Stigers of Cedarville, OH; her son James and Debbie Carroll and their children; her grandchildren Jonathan (Billi) Keener, Jennifer (DeWitt) Gober and Jeromy (Stefanie) Balicki; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and May Alger (nee: Gildersleeve) and her husband Charles F. Wagner.
Marilyn had spent her final years under the faithful care of her granddaughter Jennifer, Elmcroft Senior Living, Anchor Lodge Retirement Village, and Sprenger Hospice. Thanks and appreciation goes to each one who gently took care of her.
Friends may call on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Reverend David Hixon, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
