Josephine M. Kalscheur, age 89, of Cross Plains, died on Sunday, May 24th, 1998. She was born on July 11th, 1908, in Ashton. She married Clemens P. Kalscheur on April 27th, 1932, in Ashton. Clemens and Josephine farmed in Pine Bluff and Cross Plains until 1959 when they moved to the village of Cross Plains. He preceded her in death on September 2nd, 1991. Josephine was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women, and the Catholic Knights. Survivors include four children, Richard (Judith) Kalscheur of Wisconsin Rapids, Yvonne (Thomas) Czajkowski of Greendale, Kenneth (Ann) Kalscheur of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and David (Barbara) Kalscheur of Beaver Dam; a son-in-law, Harlen Hochhalter of Palatine, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Karls of Waunakee, Mildred Schwab of Middleton, and Elaine Adler of Cross Plains; and two brothers, John and Alfred Meffert of Waunakee. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Hochhalter, and her brother, Raymond of Ashton. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains, at 11:30am on Wednesday, May 27th, 1998, with Father Stephen Smith presiding. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 26th, 1998, at the church where a scripture service will be held at 4:00pm.
