Joe Bennett, 71, lifelong Guymon resident, passed away Friday afternoon, October 20, 2017 at the Heritage Community surrounded by his loving family.

The son of W.H. “Bill” and Louise (Martin) Bennett, he was born August 17, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. The family moved to Guymon when Joe was one year old. Joe attended school in Guymon. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. Following his service he attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell and was a member of the Rodeo Team.

Joe and Cindy Adamson were united in marriage on August 15, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Joe was a cowboy, retiring in 2010 from Dino, Ltd. He enjoyed roping, being horse back and all parts of the cowboy life. He also enjoyed fishing, telling stories and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Bennett and three sisters: Phyllis Manos, Sharon Chesnut and Janet Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Bennett of the home; his mother, Louise Bennett of Guymon; son, Monty Bennett and wife, Amber of Sunray, Texas and daughter, Karry Cowan and husband, Heath of Pampa, Texas. Survivors also include five grandchildren: Ashton, Dawson, Pyper, Ivey and Ember; one sister, Vicki Snowden and husband, Neal of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Craig Chesnut of Gore, Ok, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services with military honors will be conducted Friday morning, Oct 27th at 10am at the Pickle Creek, 822 NE 6th St. with Bill Newman and Rev. Wayne Dawson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Memorials in memory of Joe may be given to the OPSU Rodeo Team. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thurs, October 26th.
