Curtis Paul Cowart, 77, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at a local hospital after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday night at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60611.
Born on November 27, 1939 in Macon, Georgia to the late Albert and Ester Wilkes Cowart, Curtis lived in Macon most of his life. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Nolan Cowart. Curtis was a retired master automobile mechanic, having owned and operated Cowart Brake and Alignment Repair Shop in Macon for many years. He was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church. Curtis enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He loved to make jokes and entertain his family, friends, and strangers with his antics. Curtis enjoyed cooking and was famous among his family for the "Poppy Breakfast." He loved playing the harmonica, taking trips to Las Vegas, going on cruises, watching his children play softball, spending time on Lake Sinclair, was a "Mr. Fix-it-of-all-things" and loved animals. Above all, Curtis had a big heart and was a loving and devoted father, husband, brother, uncle and friend.
