Lawyer and fraternal leader. Regarded as the patriarch of his lodge, Lincoln #470 F&AM of San Francisco, California. He served in the Spanish American War and was a member of the commission that settled claims arising from the Boxer Rebellion. He also represented San Francisco in the State Assembly in 1911. He was a Past Master and Trustee of his lodge, an Inspector of his district. He was secretary of the San Francisco Shriner's Hospital and had been coroneted a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason. He lived at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill.
