John Ruston, 85, of Valley View Village died of a respiratory ailment there Thursday. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Ruston had lived in Des Moines all his life. He was a bookbinder with Meredith Publishing Co. and a member of Bookbinders Union and Grace Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Shafer and Sue Shoemaker, and a sister, Marie Ruston, all of Des Moines; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Merle Hay Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
