Betty L. Firey age 85 passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Carthage Health & Rehab Center. She was born on December 16, 1931 in Stotesbury, Missouri to Lonzo Webber and Mary Fierce. Betty married Irvin Firey on November 8, 1953 and he preceded her in death. She was a social worker for the Salvation Army; also she worked for the Webb City School District. Betty loved playing games and spending time with her family, and visiting with friends. She is survived by her children, Samuel Firey of Joplin, Suzanne Carter Griner of Webb City; grandchildren, David & Kathleen Carter of Webb City, Jeremy & Stephanie Carter of Oklahoma City, Nicholas and Kristy Carter of Cherokee, Kansas, Tamara & Gary Dockery of Luther, Oklahoma; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Thompson, Hazel Crawford, Eveline Minard Keaton and a great grandchild, Chase Dockery.
