The Reverend John Frederick Sadler, Sr., known to all of us as “Johnny”, gave up this earthly life for an eternal one on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

John was born on January 1, 1956 to Edward DeWitt Sadler, Sr. and Mildred Jackson Sadler both who proceeded him in death. He was their New Year’s baby.

John was a husband, father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, God-father, friend and colleague. Though John had many earthly relationships, he valued his relationship
with God most of all.

From a very early age, John demonstrated a passionate love of the church as he sought to be molded as an instrument of God. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a life long member.

John was a 1974 graduate of Hunter Huss High School. Additionally, he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Gardner Webb University in 1992. John also received many awards and accolades for his work at Freightliner and Daimler Corporations. His desire to be a motivator and inspiration to others began early in his life. He was the first African American Student Body President of Ashley Junior High School in 1971.

Additionally, John affiliated with many service organizations. Among these include Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he was once
recognized as “Omega Man of the Year”. John also became a member of Masonic Golden Rule Lodge #82. As an advocate for social change, John was one of the founders of Citizens United for Positive Progress (CUPP).

John’s church affiliations were many. He was an ordained Elder in the A.M.E. Zion Church and pastored Wrights Chapel and Rudisill Chapel A.M.E. Zion Churches. John was currently pastoring Rudisill Chapel when he departed this life suddenly on last Wednesday.

He leaves a loving church family to continue the programs that he had put in place.

John leaves to cherish earthly memories of him, his wife of 37 years Patricia Brown Sadler. His children John Frederick Sadler, Jr. and Christina Sadler-Young (David) both of Greensboro, NC. His siblings: Brenda Sadler Friday (Ervin), Edward DeWitt Sadler, Jr. (Thomasina); Kenneth Marvin Sadler (Brenda) and J. Elvin Sadler (Stefanie): and a community of other family and friends.
