John was born on January 1, 1956 to Edward DeWitt Sadler, Sr. and Mildred Jackson Sadler both who proceeded him in death. He was their New Year’s baby.
John was a husband, father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, God-father, friend and colleague. Though John had many earthly relationships, he valued his relationship
with God most of all.
From a very early age, John demonstrated a passionate love of the church as he sought to be molded as an instrument of God. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a life long member.
John was a 1974 graduate of Hunter Huss High School. Additionally, he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Gardner Webb University in 1992. John also received many awards and accolades for his work at Freightliner and Daimler Corporations. His desire to be a motivator and inspiration to others began early in his life. He was the first African American Student Body President of Ashley Junior High School in 1971.
Additionally, John affiliated with many service organizations. Among these include Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he was once
recognized as “Omega Man of the Year”. John also became a member of Masonic Golden Rule Lodge #82. As an advocate for social change, John was one of the founders of Citizens United for Positive Progress (CUPP).
