Vivian C. Roemer, 91, of Lexington, died Friday (Nov. 17, 2017) at Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, Normal where she had been since August. Her family has honored her wish for cremation. A grave side service will be at a later date.

Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home, Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Vivian was born Nov. 4, 1926 in Mansfield, the daughter of Garfield and Thelma Warren May. She married Edward A. Roberds on Oct. 5, 1945. He died on Oct. 17, 1972. She later married Clark W. Roemer on May 9, 1975. He died Oct. 17, 2017.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel E. Roberds, five sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by five children, Danny (Gina) Roberds, Jackie (Mike) Rever, Linda (Steve) Anderson and Greg (Sian) Roberds, all of Lexington, and Chuck (Becky) Roberds of Downs; eight grandchildren, Justin, Lisa, Quincy, Ian, and Christopher Roberds, Todd and Jenny Anderson, and Michelle Rever Henderson; seven great-grandchildren; and a step-son, Kenneth Roemer. Also, surviving are three brothers, Jim May of Dewey, Bob May of Ogden and Terry (Peggy) May of Farmer City.

Vivian was a loving wife, mother and sister. She was the third child and oldest girl in a family of 12 children. She helped raise her siblings in the small town of Lotus, before she married. She lived in Normal for several years, working for the Eureka Company, was a nurse’s aide at Brokaw Hospital, and worked for General Electric.

Vivian and Clark lived in Naples, Fla. from 1984 to 1993, when they returned to live out their lives with their children. They both loved being in Lexington with friends and family.

Special thanks go out to Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. Vivian was given love, attention and great care by all the staff there. They really are special.

Memorials may be made to the Lexington Genealogical and Historical Society (The Fort) or the Lexington Food Pantry.
