She was the widow of Samuel Miles, who died in 1990. The couple was married for 45 years.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Ryan Rodney, Hazel was educated in Scranton schools, and she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Dunmore.
Hazel's foremost concern was always her family's welfare. She was an excellent cook and truly enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Jewish Home for several years.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Libby) of Dunmore; three sons, John A. and wife, Kathy, of Watkins Glen, N.Y.; Thomas A. of Florida and Robert Paul of Florida; grandchildren, Benjamin Fortese III and wife, Holly; Bonnie Jean Skilton and husband, Mathias; Jeffrey and wife, Susan; Jamie, Anthony, Eric, Tiffany and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Fortese, Bazzil Skilton, Madelyn, Miles and Gavin; sisters, Dorothy Russell, Clara Kolosinsky, Francis Hart; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers Henry, Elwood, Roy and George and two sisters Betty and Mary.
The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 8:30 until time of Mass. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery.
