Mrs. Hartley loved her family who carry on her fine legacy. Their children, Robey and his wife Teresa; and Finley and his wife Theresa, as well as beloved grandchildren, Robeys children, Drew, wife Alicia and daughter Mackenzie, Colin, and Courtney; and Finleys children, Jessica and Dale and his wife Kaylyn.
Mrs. Hartley was raised on Woodside Avenue. After attending Lenoir High School, she followed her fathers path and graduated from Duke University. Following graduation, she worked for Lance Crackers in Charlotte NC. She married Sam Austin Hartley on October 17, 1953.
Their many circles of friends and family were always welcome to the Hartley home on Hibriten Avenue. Mrs. Hartley enjoyed tennis, playing in Lenoir and later at Cedar Rock. She retired from teaching at Baton Elementary in 1992. While living in Cedar Rock, she was an officer in the garden club. She and Sam continued to enjoy entertaining friends and playing in bridge clubs. She was a lifetime learner, enjoying reading with book clubs.
Mrs. Hartley faithfully worshiped at Lenoir Presbyterian Church. A service celebrating Mrs. Hartleys life will be held in the sanctuary of the Lenoir Presbyterian Church at a later date. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will take place at Belleview Cemetery.
