Obituary for Tommy Moore
Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Lee Moore, 61 of Cookeville will be held Wednesday November 22nd at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Pastor Donnie Davison will officiate.
Mr. Moore died Saturday morning, November 18, 2017 at his residence following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born Monday January 30, 1956 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Herman Albert Moore SR. and Mary Lee Huddleston Moore. Tommy was a 1974 graduate of Putnam Co. Senior High where he played baseball, football and basketball, and was selected as ‘Mr. Cavalier’ by his classmates.
Tommy served as a Police Officer with the City of Cookeville Police Department in the late 70’s and was later a Dispatcher with Putnam Co. Emergency Services for more than a decade. He also took over his father’s sales route as a tobacco salesmen for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company when he retired.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a great, gentle-hearted, kind and loving man. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved life. He loved Jesus and faithfully watched and listened to his favorite preacher, Dr. Charles Stanley and attended Life Church in Cookeville with his daughter and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Avon Robert “Bo” Moore; and by niece, Amber Sexton.
Survivors include his adoring family, daughter and a son-in-law, Crystal and Jammie Williams of Baxter; granddaughters, Lexie, Alyssa, and Anzly Williams; sister, Karen Thomas of Cookeville; brother, Herman A. “Sonny” (Sherry) Moore JR of Brentwood, TN; nieces and nephews, Shannon and Tim Beaty, Chris and Shana Thomas, Misty Moore, Ginny and Nicholas VonBlohn, Travis and April Moore; and great nieces and nephews, Savannah and Logan Beaty, Hudson Moore, and Jonathan Evans.
Bruce Bean, Vernon Woodcock, Tim Jones, Tim Beaty, Chris Thomas, Travis Moore, Logan Beaty and Nicholas VonBlohn will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Moore’s family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
