He was retired after having been a general laborer for Granite City Steel. He was a veteran of the US Army and US Marines. He is survived by his children, April (Greg) Davidson of Wood River, IL, Jennifer (Doug) North of Dorsey, IL, Shawna (Cory) Semplowski of Gillespie, IL, Casey Hammock (fiancé, Jason Griffin) of Wood River, IL, 8 grandchildren, brothers, Scott Hammock of Holiday Shores, IL, Chet Hammock of Columbia, IL, Matt Hammock of Alton, IL, sisters, Cindy McCarty of Rosewood Heights, IL, Lisa Maleski of TX, and Shannon Webb of Roxana, IL.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tiffany Hammock.
Gravesite services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 1pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 3-6pm at the Gillespie Civic Center.
