Bill Allen, age 78, of the Estatoe Community, passed away on Friday November 17th, 2017 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Claude and Georgia Honeycutt Allen. He was also preceded in death by a son Ritchie Van Allen, who passed in 1966 and a sister, Cora Lee Grindstaff. Bill was a member of Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church who loved fishing and hunting for ginseng.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Louise Ballew Allen; son, Mitchell Allen and wife, Wendy, of Crabtree; grandchildren: Bethany Allen and Elijah Allen; sisters: Shirley Hollifield and husband, Paul, of Marion and Paula Allen of Marion. Several other extended family member also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 20th at Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Dallas Renfro and Rev. Daniel Whetstine will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church cemetery.
