He attended schools in Washington County, graduating with the Class of 1956 from Hagerstown High School. In his earlier years, he was an active coach with National Little League and an officer and volunteer with the South End Fire Department. He attended Valley Assembly of God Church. He was formerly employed for 18 years by the Western Maryland Railway, now the Chessie System. While employed there, he was a trustee of BRAC, Local 281, and former social club president. He also was a longtime bowler with the Western Maryland Railway Team. He also was employed by the Washington County Hospital for 20 years in the shipping and receiving department.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine "Kitty" Day Lippy; one daughter, Janice Kay Stewart; one son, Todd Wayne Lippy; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three great-grandchildren, Austin Wayne Stewart, Jayden Marie Stewart and Justice Stewart.
A celebration in honor of his home-going will be held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Interment will be held in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
