FULTON, Ill. - Gary L. Kemp, Sr., 62, of Fulton, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery, Clinton. Casket bearers will be Gary Kemp, Jr., Gene Kemp, Larry and John Cooper, Ed Fritz, Mike Chapman and Merrill Beck. Honorary casket bearers will be Red Lutton, Skip Tomman, Rich Smith, Jack Beyer and Harold Kenworthy.Gary was born in Clinton on May 27, 1947, the son of Albert and Zella Hofacre Kemp. He attended Clinton schools. Gary married Constance Hugunin on April 23, 1966, in Clinton. He later married Julie Ann Phillips Bebensee on July 11, 1988, in Hawaii. Gary was a fork lift driver with Dairy Pak in Clinton and later with Drives Inc. in Fulton until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Fulton. Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and playing pool and country music, as well as the classics of the 50s and 60s.Gary is survived by his wife, Julie; four children, Candi (John) McCutcheon, Roseanna (Rick) Taylor, Gary (Nonny) Kemp, Jr., and Eugene (Tammy) Kemp, all of Clinton; two stepchildren, Sara Bebensee and Michael Bebensee, both of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, James Kemp, of Spragueville, Iowa; and two sisters, Patricia (Larry) Curtis, of Princeton, Iowa, and Mary (Glenn) Wright, of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elmer Kemp and Allen "Babe" Kemp, and a sister, Darlene Carr.
