Carma Jean FOILES (1922 - 2017)

Carma Jean Foiles was born in Loveland, CO to Earl and Mabel Worden on October 13, 1922. She passed away November 14, 2017. She was the youngest of four children and spent summers working with her sisters at the family's cabins in Big Thompson Canyon leading into Estes Park. The Worden family owned a cabin in Estes Park which was enjoyed by her brother's and sisters' families for over fifty years.

Carma attended Colorado Teachers College. She married Marvin Foiles, her high school sweetheart, during a short break he got from WWII. They didn't see each other for the next 18 months. After the war, they moved to Missoula, MT where Marvin worked with the U.S. Forest Service. His career took them to North Idaho to the USFS Deception Creek Experiment Station, then Spokane, Boise and more research station housing in Idaho forests.

The family moved to Moscow, ID in 1967 with their six children: Randy, Janice, Les, Stan, Anne and Steve. All six children attended the University of Idaho. Carma was a founding member and employee to start the Latah Federal Credit Union.

The positive way in which Carma survived much family loss was a testament to her strong character and her cheerful attitude and eyes twinkling all these years. Carma found a village of great friends at Conkling Park on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Her family continues to enjoy summers there. She spent over 10 years with Bob Frandsen who was a wonderful companion and travel partner. Carma played tennis, was a master at bridge, enjoyed watching sports, and loved a good party with friends.

In the last several years Carma lived at Orchard Crest Retirement Center followed by Brighton Court Assisted Living Center, both in the Spokane Valley.

Carma was pre-deceased by her parents, brother, two sisters, her husband Marvin, two of her children, Janice and Steve. Carma is survived by four married children: Randy Foiles (Mary Ann), Les Foiles (Vickie), Stan Foiles (Kristi), Anne Frederiksen (Phil), plus Dawn Foiles (Brad Roach). She has 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A small graveside service will be held in Moscow, on November 18. The family is planning a celebration of her life in December.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Brighton Court Dementia Care and the nurses of Kindred Hospice for their loving care of Carma during these last few months.
