Dr. D. A. Hungerford, veteran physician of the Civil War, father of Mrs. J. V. Anderson, passed away at the Soldiers Home at 3:30 o'clock this morning after a short illness. Dr. Hungerford became affected from the heat at the time of the Norris funeral and has taken no nourishment since that time. He lived to be 93 years of age.
Dr. Hungerford was born in Coventry, N. Y., September 3, 1824. He served throughout the Civil War as surgeon in the marine hospital in New Orleans and other points. After the war he practiced at Elmira, N. Y., and then in Colorado and Nebraska. Being married on October 21, 1848, the doctor and his wife have enjoyed 69 years of wedded life. His death is the first break in the family. While making this city their home, Mr. and Mrs. Hunderford have not resided at the Soldiers Home until last year.
Besides the wife who is 87 years of age, he leaves three daughters and three sons to mourn his loss. They are W. C. Hungerford, of Lake City, Iowa; F. H. Hungerford, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; E. M. Hungerford of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Mattie T. Thompson, of Auburn, Wash.; Mrs. Francis M. Smith, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. J. V. Anderson. Mr. Hungerford was a member of the G.A.R., under whose auspices the funeral will be held. The funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the St. Stephen's Episcopal church, Rev. L. A. Arthur officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Hungerford celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary recently in the circle of a number of relatives and friends.
