Episcopal Bishop of Hereford. He served in this position from 1660 until his death. Prior to his installation, the position had been vacant. The son of Sir Thomas Monck of Potheridge, he attended Wadham College, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1631 and a Master of Arts Degree in 1633. He then studied for the priesthood and from 1640 he served as Rector of Langtree, a parish near Potheridge, and was later given the Rectory of Kilkhampton in Cornwall by his half-cousin Sir John Grenville. After 1646 he obtained the small rectory of Plymtree in Devon. In 1660, following the Restoration of the Monarchy, he was appointed Provost of Eton College and Bishop of Hereford by King Charles II. He died the following year around the age of 51 and was succeeded by Herbert Croft.
