Virginia “Jenny” Carolyn Bruce Holmes, 82, of Pacolet, SC, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 15, 1935, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jolly William and Mary Etta Waldrop Bruce and widow of Frank Edward “Ned” Holmes.

Mrs. Holmes was a member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church, former president of the United Methodist Women, teacher of the Ladies Sunday School Class, Lay Delegate to Annual Conference and trustee. She also served on the Pastor-Parrish Relations Committee and as a District Officer of the United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Pacolet High School and retired in 1981 from Spartan Undies after 26 years of service.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Holmes Gentry (George) of Spartanburg, SC, and Debbie Holmes Miller (Noble) of Prosperity, SC; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ruth Bruce Barber of Clifton, SC; and special friend, Earline McGaha of Pacolet, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Frank Edward Holmes, Jr.; and brother, Richard Bruce.

Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Monday, November 20, 2017, at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Mack McDowell and Mr. George Gentry. Entombment will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
