Johnny Lynn Gatlin, 71, a caring and loving father, passed away peacefully in Knox City, Texas on Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was born in Ennis and raised in Dallas. He graduated from Sunset High School, class of 1964, and worked many years as a truck driver.

Johnny was known to be a good Christian, who would help anyone in need. He was laid back, patient, and never had a temper if only ( the Dallas Cowboys were losing. Then he would make a fist and bite his knuckle).

He was president of Lone Star Van club, and had a passion for automobiles of all kinds and loved racing his 1968 GTX Plymouth 440 magnum. He also played on a semi-pro football team. If he wasnt working, then he was outside fishing, or doing yard work, and loved watching his sports. Most of all he loved his chocolate pie. He attended church every chance he got and most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John W. Gatlin; mother, Irene F. Gatlin; and son, Michael Gatlin.
Survivors: Sons, Jerry Gatlin, Eric Bentley and Corey Bentley; brothers, Billy W. Gatlin and wife, Mamie Gatlin, Bobby G. Gatlin and wife, Sue Gatlin; grandchildren, Kaily Sipes, Tessa Thomas and Chase Gatlin; great-grandchild, Adalyne Thomas; nieces and nephews, Sara Charlene Elliot, Robert Gatlin and Chris Gatlin; and great-nieces, Marissa and Emily.
