HARVEY, Craig J., 72, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hampton. Born August 17, 1945, in York, S.C., he was a son of Joseph Jackson and Geneva Craig (Jenkins) Harvey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a military police officer. Craig enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and was almost 20 when he was discharged. He had basic training in Texas and served as a military police at Malmstrom AFB for two years. Craig served as president of Paralyzed Veterans of America, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, for one year and served on the board for many years. He also served with the American Wheelchair Bowling Association, and was involved with Independent Wheels. He loved to travel with his wife, Janet, to listen to Heaven's Mountain Band which included many members of Janet's family. Craig's grandchildren were a joy to him and he treasured the time they could spend together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Regina (Hevener) Harvey. Surviving are his stepson, Donald Wright and wife, Susen, of Springfield, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Deborah Miller and her husband, Jace, of Wenatchee, Wash.; three brothers, Pat Harvey and wife, Arlene, of York, S.C., Marty Harvey and wife, Sandy, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Mike Harvey and wife, Donna, of York, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Joyce Miller and husband, John, of Churchville, Va., Nellie Hevener of Churchville, Va., and Dianna Hevener of Mt. Solon, Va.; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wright, Kristen Wright, Elisabeth Miller, Madelyn Reischach and Olivia Miller; three nieces, Holly (Harvey) Heddleson and husband, Kelly, of Iron Station, N.C., Melissa Harvey of York, S.C. and Jessica (Harvey) Dorsett and husband, Josh, of York, S.C.; three great-nephews, Devin Harvey, Aidan Reynolds and Jackson Dorsett; one great-niece, Maycie Heddleson; and an aunt, Doris Jenkins of Rock Hill, S.C. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, November 19, in Staunton Seventh Day Adventist Church, officiated by Pastor Delthony Gordon. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, Va. Active pallbearers will be Barry and Darin Hevener, Larry Sheffer, Randy and Logan Bosley and Ricky Shull. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service.
