Karen Gulbrandsen Murphy, age 82, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert W. Murphy. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jeff Bergum, Buford, GA, Mary and Paul Anstedt, Hawthorne Woods, IL, Colleen and Kevin Groth, Lawrenceville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Lisa Murphy, Mandeville, LA, Bill and Laura Murphy, Columbia, SC; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Laura Schoepke, Kenosha, WI; brothers and sister-in-law, Bob Gulbrandsen, Palm Springs, CA, Arne and Olivia Gulbrandsen, Racine, WI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Murphy was born December 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a 1952 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School and a 1955 graduate of Columbia School of Nursing with a RN Degree. Mrs. Murphy was a retired registered nurse from Northside Hospital in Atlanta with 40 years of service, and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch, GA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Branson to serve as celebrant. Interment will be at GA National Cemetery in Canton, GA
