James Harold Bond

A celebration of the life of Mr. James Harold Bond will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Reverend Barry Gautreaux will be officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Harold was a faithful child of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born on June 30, 1934 in Pitkin, Louisiana to Mike & Maisie Bond.

After joining the US Army, he completed two tours in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.

He was also a graduate of McNeese State University, where he attained multiple degrees, including a Master's +30 degree. He is most remembered for his service to the community as a dedicated educator and assistant principal for 34 years, and he was most proud of his service for God as a church music director and an ordained Baptist deacon. He entered the loving arms of Jesus on November 15, 2017 while surrounded by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Maisie Bond, in-laws Ivy and Rena Mae Willis, and brother-in-law Chester Willis.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 42 years, Shirley Willis Bond, of Oakdale. He also leaves two daughters: Blaklee (Bond) Landreneau and husband Stuart, of Deridder, LA. and Blair (Bond) Crawford and husband Allen (Bubba), of Pollock, LA. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Bryce Landreneau, Beau Crawford, Brantley James Landreneau, Brynna Landreneau, and Bristol Crawford. He also leaves a host of family and friends, including 2 sisters Joyce and Mona, 2 brothers Leland and Billy Bond, nieces Adena Lejeune and Mary Carlisle, and nephews Brad Soileau, Gary Soileau, and Brian Soileau. Among his treasured friends are David and Barbara Johnson and family, Derrance Billard, Jimmie Henry, Vickie Angel, Letha Celestine, Rev. and Mrs. Barry Gautreaux.

Friends may call at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Bryce Landreneau, Stuart Landreneau, Bubba Crawford, Brad Soileau, Gary Soileau, David Johnson, Curtis Payne, and B.W. Angel. Honorary pallbearers include Beau Crawford, Brantley Landreneau, and Brynna Landreneau.
