Oren Guy Wilson, 87, of Martinsville, a longtime Paragon resident, passed from this life on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 1:56 pm at the Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born Wednesday, August 14, 1929 in Grand Ledge, MI to the late David Edward and Minnie (Secrest) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Paragon High School with the Class of 1947. He was a member of the Paragon Conservation Club and a longtime ham radio operator with the call sign of K9CLH. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and attended Samaria Baptist Church in Paragon, IN.
He retired in 1991 from Matrix Corporation in Indianapolis where he was an electronics technician.
He loved gardening, working in his greenhouse, hunting, fishing and feeding the hummingbirds. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force.
On September 16, 1950, he married Violet G. (Stevens) Wilson; she survives, living in Martinsville. He also leaves behind a host of loving family including his son, Scott A. Wilson (wife, Janet) of Paragon, IN; daughters, Ellen Wilson-Pruitt of Martinsville and Lisa L. Arnold (husband, Kevin) of Eminence, IN; sisters, Betty Stevens of Martinsville, IN and Sarah Robinson of Georgia and one granddaughter, Mahalah Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Jim, Charles, Arthur, Bob, Leo and Ira Wilson; sister, Marguerite Wade; infant sisters, Suzie and Frances Wilson; half- sisters, Mae Pierce and Monte Miller and half-brother, Rex Wilson.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4-8 pm and Friday, January 27th from 10 am until service time at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Oren's life will begin Friday at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon, IN.
