News-Press, Fort Myers, FL, Wed, 24 Feb 1993: Mary L Smith, 84, of Cape Coral, died Monday afternoon in Cape Coral. She was born in Orleans, Ind. and came here in 1968 from Detroit. An avid bowler, Mrs. Smith was a member of St Andrew Catholic Church, the Italian American Club and the German American Social Club. She is survived by her nephew, Billy A Elrod of Cape Coral and 12 other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb 17, 1993 at 10 am in the Chapel of Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road. Interment will follow in Coral Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St Andrew School Building Fund.

Mitchell Tribune, Mitchell, IN, 3 Mar 1993, Wed: Mary Elrod Smith, 84, died Monday, Feb 22, at the Capt Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Fl. Born Dec 13, 1908, in Orleans, she was the daughter of Anderson Sylvester and Amanda Fullen Elrod. She married John Smith, and he died Jan 10, 1985. She worked for the US government in Washington DC and Detroit, MI. She was a member of the Catholic Church, Italian American Club and German American Club. She was an avid bowler and graduated from Orleans High School. Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Bonnie Snow and Rita Russell, both of Bedford, Mary Ann Grunden, Paoli, Ina Bledsoe, French Lick, Nancy Sage, Gosport, Ruth Elrod, Medora, John D Elrod, Orleans, and Paul Elrod of Mitchell. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral, FL. The family requested memorials as donations to the St. Andrew School Building Fund, 2628 Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33904.
