William L. “Bill” O’Daniel, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois died November 15, 2017 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. He was born December 4, 1923 in Union County, Kentucky to Edward H. and Ola Atlanta (Abel) O'Daniel. He married Norma Hayes on November 10, 1973 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she survives.

Bill served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during WW II from 1943-1946. He later served as Illinois State Senator for several years.

In addition to his wife Norma, Bill is survived by his son, Monte D. Pearson and wife Dell of Atlanta, Georgia; three daughters, JoAnne O’Daniel of Wayne City, Illinois, Linda Sue Fisher and husband Ed of Chester, Illinois, and Mary Jane Giles of Idaho; brother, Robert N. O’Daniel of Fairfield, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. O'Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Edith Marie O’Daniel; son, John E. O’Daniel; great grandson, Nicholas O’Daniel; and two brothers, H.M. O’Daniel and E.H. O’Daniel.
