Betty Lou Schmidt, age 90, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon. She was born February 21, 1927, in Lutesville, Missouri, the daughter of the late William & Leslie (Francis) Choate. Betty Lou married her husband of 54 years, the late Charles F. Schmidt on November 5, 1948, at Eden Church in Edwardsville. She is survived by three sons, Randy Schmidt & wife Angela of Miami, Florida, C. William Schmidt & wife Laura of Edwardsville, Troy Schmidt & wife Rana of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother & one sister. Betty Lou was a member of the Eden Church in Edwardsville and volunteered with Faith in Action at Eden. She was also very active with the SIUE Foundation and was a past member of the St. Louis Womens District Golf Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Eden Church in Edwardsville. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Eden Church with Rev. John Roberts officiating. She will be cremated according to her wishes and a private family burial will be held at a later date. The family request memorials to the Charles F.
