Josephine Moore Griffin, (“Jody”), age 73, passed away at the Hospice of Charleston, in Charleston, South Carolina surrounded by family after a brief but courageous struggle with cancer. She was born to Berrien II and Mary Large Moore in Atlanta, Georgia, where she grew up. She graduated from Sweet Briar College in 1966 and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, Charles Nathaniel Griffin, II (“Chuck”). She supported him while he obtained his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. After moving around during his service with the U.S. Marine Corps they settled in Rochester, New York as he began a long career with Eastman Kodak. Together they started a family and began life overseas with stops in Brazil, Panama, Venezuela, Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Sweden, the Netherlands, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. She and her husband retired in Charleston in late 2014. She was an incredible and selfless person who lived life to the fullest. She always put others before herself and will be remembered for her generosity, loving heart and grace. She loved to travel and immersed herself in the culture of the country in which she lived. She obtained a Master’s degree in Education Administration at Old Dominion University and pursued a lifelong career in education. She served as a guidance counselor and mentor to countless students in many different countries, helping them achieve their educational aspirations. She was preceded by a sister Janet.
