Mrs. Robert (Jean) Fortman, 36, St. Marys, native of Mercer County, died Sunday at 6:10 p.m. in Joint Township Memorial Hospital of cancer after an illness of four years. Mrs. Fortman was born January 3, 1932 at Cranberry Prairie, the daughter of Ernest Bruns and Alvina (Schwieterman) Bruns. She was married May 31, 1951 to Robert L. Fortman who also survives along with three children; Nancy, Doug and Vickie at home; three brothers; Robert, John, and Dennis Bruns of St. Henry and one sister, Mrs. Edgar
(Judy) Bills of Coldwater. There are also a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fortman had taught in the St. Marys Public School system for seven years. She graduated in 1950 from St. Henry High School and cum laude from Ohio Northern University in 1962 where she received her bachelor of science in education degree. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the St. Marys Teaching Association and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. A Requiem High Mass was held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church with the Rev. Ferd W. Kylius officiating. Burial was made in Gethsemane Cemetery. Vore and Folk Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
