Opal F. Pierick, 99, of Des Moines died on November 14, 2017. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 20 at Glendale Cemetery.

Opal was born September 18, 1918 in Earlham, IA to the late Robert and Edna (Young) Vincent and moved to Des Moines where she grew up and graduated from East High School.
She and Lawrence Pierick married in 1940.
Later in life she worked at Pidgeons Furniture and “The Des Moines Register and Tribune” credit department.

Opal was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed laughing, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Family was everything to her.

Her survivors include her daughter, Norabeth (Jim) Lacona of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband; infant sons, Bernard and Lawrence Jr.; son, James Pierick; seven siblings and their spouses.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation PO Box 57130 Des Moines 50317; East High Alumni Foundation PO Box 370 Des Moines 50316; Wesley Life Meals on Wheels 5508 NW 88th St. Johnston 50131.
