She was born in Blairton, WV on March 8, 1929 to Hayden Glendor Whirley and Mamie Virginia Atkins.
Being from a large family she is survived by bother Bobby (Laura Ann) Whirley, sisters Louise Crider andJeanne Whirley. She was predeceased by sisters Marie Wayne, Ella Etzler, Nancy Whirley and brothers Floyd Whirley and William (Gus) Whirley.
She had a successful career as an operator at C&P Telephone Company and then was co-owner of Perry's Restaurant and Catering on Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, Md. Once the restaurant closed, she was an Administrative Assistant for Computer Sciences Corporation for many years. She loved to sew and was an active member of Gaithersburg Lioness and The Soroptimist International of Montgomery County plus she thoroughly enjoyed traveling with the Damascus Travel Club.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 10am at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD with internment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in the name of Lula W Perry to Montgomery Hospice.
