Marilyn Hopkins was born January 14, 1947 in Sedan, Kansas the daughter of Glenn D. Hopkins and Joyce (Schade) Divelbiss. Marilyn passed away at her home in Solomon on November 13, 2017.

Marilyn attended Solomon High School and received her associate’s degree from Kansas City Community College and later worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies retiring after 25 years.

Marilyn had a heart for people, always trying to help. She saw the best in everyone and was always willing to lend a comforting shoulder. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading books and “treasure hunting” for items for her family and friends. Marilyn loved flowers and plants. Her happiest times were spent gardening. Her biggest passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her son J. Chris Palmgren and his fiancé Shala of Concordia; daughter Michele Palmgren of Solomon; sister Barbara Carolan of Solomon; brother David Hopkins of California, adopted daughter Elizabeth Teasley of Kansas City, Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation is planned. A luncheon honoring Marilyn’s life will be at the United Methodist Church in Solomon from noon – 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dickinson County Health Department for the benefit of the Community Baby Shower and may be sent in care of the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 308, Solomon, Kansas 67480.
