Hazleton Standard Speaker; Saturday, September 19, 1964:
David Johnson Olsen, 527 West Diamond avenue, retired comptroller of the First Pennsylvania Banking and Trust Co., Philadelphia, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He had been ill three weeks. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Daniel and Anne McGall Olsen. He lived in Hazleton for the last nine years.

Olsen was active in Masonic circles, being a member of St. Paul's Lodge, 481, F and AM; a past high priest of Palestine Lodge, Royal Arch Chapter; chaplain of Joppa Council, 46, Royal and Select Master Masons; a member of St. Mary's Commandery, Knights Templar, 36, all of Philadelphia and member of Irem Temple, AAONMS, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church, Philadelphia and served as a member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary in Hazleton. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he was a member of the First Penco Assn. for the last 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, the former Clara W. Wiegand; these children: David, New York City; John Edward of Detroit; Mrs. Anthony (Helen) Kiasowski, Philadelphia; Mrs. Francis (Edith) Hopson, Philadelphia; Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanne) Smith, Fayetteville, N.C., and Mrs. Eric (Elizabeth) Carp, Puerto Rico. Other survivors include two brothers, William, Pasadena, Calif., Daniel of Margate, N.J.; two sisters, Anna Garrison, Philadelphia and Bertha Walters, Philadelphia. Fifteen grandchildren also survive. A son, Richard, was killed in World War II while serving in the South Pacific.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday from the Grebey, Beltz and Gleim Funeral Home, with the Rev. Allen H. Roth, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, city, officiating. Interment will be in the vine Street Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
