Jack, 77 yrs old, passed away peacefully, at Legacy House Hospice, Ocala, Florida. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to John H. Kunkel and Helen J. Kunkel. He is survived by Gail Hammond Kunkel, his loving wife of 44 years, Robert mooney (renee) Mckinney, stepson of texas, Bob Kunkel (kit), brother of fontona Wisconsin, ryan mooney, grandson, chelsey Thorpe, granddaughter, three awesome great grandchildren, jake, jack and jojo, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack attended schools in Des Plaines and park ridge, Illinois. He served in the united states air force, stationed at Elmendorf air force base, at anchorage and kodiac island, Alaska. During the late 1960’s through early 1980’s, jack worked with air force officers and personnel at the air force satellite control facility in Sunnyvale, California as a ge command and control specialist for several classified air force satellite programs. In the mid 1980’s jack transferred to the ge satellite systems division in valley forge, Pennsylvania as a systems analyst, still working on classified systems. Ge later sold that division to Lockheed martin and jack continued as a systems analyst with lockheed until his retirement in 2000.

Jack officiated in the international softball association in tournaments across the u.s., including fast pitch national championship and the 1984 summer Olympics in los angeles, California. He was president of the s.c.u.b.o.a association from 1976 -1977. Jack was also an experienced official in high school and college football and basketball for over 20 years. Working with the san jose, California pal program was especially rewarding.
