Rick Edward Shepard, 65, of Rockwood, passed away at 1:36 am, Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Rick was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on June 28, 1952, the son of Jack Edward and Lola LaVerne Bova Shepard. He married Marietta Korando on September 2, 1972 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Raddle. He was a Retired Warden from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Rick was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Raddle; Elks Lodge #572, Murphysboro; Knights of Columbus #3790, Chester; and Eagles Aeries 3252, Chester. Rick played Minor League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Rick was preceded in death by his Parents and mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Pearl Korando.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Raddle, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 9 am. Memorials may be given to Wee Care of Jacob or Chester Knights of Columbus.
