Campbell, Pauline G. of Clarkston; age 86; On Sunday, November 12, 2017, Pauline was sung into the Presence of her Lord Jesus Christ by her four adult children and two dear friends. Her reunion there with her husband, Roger, was one she had longed for and spoken of often since his homegoing in January, 2015. Pauline Blok was born on Tuesday, January 27, 1931 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. She graduated from Gobles High School in 1948 in a graduating class of eleven students. That same year Pauline met Roger Campbell who two years later was to quietly coax her from her family's farmhouse early in the morning by tossing pebbles against her upstairs bedroom window. When she came out onto the porch, Roger asked Pauline to marry him and one week later, on July 15, 1950 they became husband and wife. When, in 1958 Roger entered the full time pastorate, Pauline became the consummate Pastor's Wife, a difficult and too often underappreciated calling. From that time, (through three congregations – at East Arlington Baptist Church in Lawrence, Calvary Bible Church in Benton Harbor and at Waterford Community Church) until Roger left the pastorate to found Roger Campbell Ministries in the late 70s, Pauline was truly "the wind beneath his wings," again working behind the scenes in whatever way she could. Pauline was known as a devoted prayer warrior. Each year, after Christmas, she would compile all the Christmas cards received and throughout the next year their senders would be added to her daily prayers. Pauline's loving concern for people extended far beyond her family and community. After the death of her dear grandson, Graham, in 2006, Pauline felt led of the Lord to channel her profound grief into something meaningful around the world and into eternity. So over the next several years eight wells were dug in areas that had no regular source of potable water. At each, a plaque reads '"In Loving Memory of Graham Martin Campbell… "Jesus said, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink."' By having these wells dug, infant mortality was greatly reduced as were other deaths from water-borne bacteria. Pauline is survived by her four children: David (Sharon) Campbell, Cheryl Powell, Timothy (Kathy) Campbell and Charlene (Lauro) Martin; her 9 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren; and her brother, Dr. Martin Blok. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Bible Church, 1888 Crescent Lake Road, Waterford; Officiating Pastor Tom Hampton. The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford, and at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Clarkston. Memorials may be made to Roger Campbell Ministries to help perpetuate that family mission – to reach the world for Christ.
