Shirley L. (Gerry)
OLD ORCHARD BEACH--Shirley L. (Gerry) Santorsola, age 93, formerly of Central Park Avenue, died on Feb. 8, 2007, at Evergreen Manor in Saco.
She was born in Waterville on Aug. 12, 1913, a daughter of Walter and Harriet (Toulouse) Gerry. As a girl, she attended schools in Portland. In 1939, she married her husband, Vito Bill Santorsola.
Mrs. Santorsola worked and part-owned Bill's Specialty Market on Spring Street in Portland for 4-5 years. She also worked at Bill's Pizza, which was also on Spring Street in Portland. In addition, Shirley worked with her husband at Farnum's General Store in Standish as a cashier.
She was a member of the Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Lions Club, and was a parishioner at St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach.
She will always be known as a loving, family-oriented woman who was a devoted animal lover.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Vito Bill Santorsola, who died in 1994; a sister, Bernice Terlalis; a half-sister, Marion; and a granddaughter, Sheila Ouellette Michaud.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Ouellette of Lyman and Michele Santorsola Williams of Old Orchard Beach; three grandchildren, Ted TJ Stolaroff of Old Orchard Beach, Shirley Bryant of Lyman, and Gerard Ouellette of Lyman; and many other relatives and friends.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave. in Old Orchard Beach. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford.
