(KS) Cuba Daylight Jan. 2, 1891

DIED--Dec. 30, 1890 7 o'clock a.m. Mart Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Carpenter, of Cuba, Kans, aged 11 years, 1 month and 13 days. Disease, tumor on the brain.

The suffering of this young man were beyond human power of expression, and death was surely heralded by him as a welcome visitor. He had been confined to his bed for a period of six months, most of the time unconscious of his surroundings and unable to partake of much food. All aid that skilled physicians could administer were not to want during the sick period. What seemed inevitable, however, and consequently a grave stone in the Willoughby cemetery marks the spot where a once promising youth now rests in peaceful slumber.

Eloquent and toughing remarks were made by Rev. D. A. Allen at the Baptist church on Wednesday morning, 10 o'clock. The bereaved family will please except the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community, especially the Daylight.
