Jim and Karen met when they were young teenagers, marrying as slightly-older teenagers on December 27, 1957. They grew up together both before and after their wedding in the Idaho Falls Temple – Mom often described them as kids raising kids.
They loved each other so very much, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in a little over a month. Karen was incapacitated for her last 18 months, and Jim has cared for her every day with tenderness and care. We acknowledge his loving kindness.
Karen learned so many things as she lovingly raised her family - she became an award-winning quilter and spread her craft (and love) far and wide as she taught others to quilt. We are grateful for those warm, companionable covers that remind us of how much she loved us.
Mom was a terrific cook, and liked to cook for an appreciative crowd. Her bread and cinnamon rolls were amazing.
She had a rich alto voice and an unerring ear for harmony; music and melody filled our home.
With her husband, she faithfully served and blessed others wherever they lived. She worked in Relief Society, Primary, Young Womens, and she and Dad served a mission in Hawaii.
She is survived by her husband, five children, Jim (Liz), Kirk (Cyndi), Kirsten and Kurt, Holley and Roger, Justin and Tammy, two sisters and two brothers. Jim and Karen are the grandparents of 19, and great-grandparents to ten.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Anderson Family Funeral Home 2555 N. Highway 93 Arco, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17 at 11 a.m. (viewing at 10 a.m.), Moore LDS Stake Center, 3100 N 3350 W, Moore, Idaho. Interment will be in the Mackay cemetery immediately following.
