Actor. Born Frederick Wehrly, he was a character actor who was known for his roles in British television, film, and the theatrical stage during a career that spanned five decades. He trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and started his career, performing on the theatrical stage. He made his television debut in 1964 on the British soap opera "Crossroads". His later television credits included "Sat'Day While Sunday", "Dixon of Dock Green", "Z Cars", "Doctor Who", "Last of Summer", "Triangle", and "Rock Rivals". He made his film debut in 1970 in "The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer". He would go on to appear in such films as "Dad's Army" (1971), "See No Evil" (1971), "The Deadly Females" (1976), and "Cal" (1984). In 1992 he went into the area of radio, producing radio dramas for RTE in his native Ireland. He also continued acting in various theatrical productions through the years.
