Marilyn Perkins, age 79, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday evening, January 21, 2015 at her home. She was born July 19, 1935 in Covington, KY, the daughter of Clara (Ross) and Ned Thompson. Marilyn was a 1953 graduate of McGuffey High School. She was one of the first managers of Shillito’s department store in Oxford, worked as a seamstress, making drapes and re-upholstery work for the Oxford Decorating Center. She was co-owner of the Apple Tree Needleworks store. She also served as a docent for the McGuffey Museum. Marilyn was a faithful and active charter member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edwin and John Thompson; and her husband of 39 years, William H. Perkins. She is survived by her sons, David (Debbi) Perkins and his children, Andrew and Heather; John (Kimberly) and their daughter Mary; daughter Shirley (Ed) Wasser and children, Alexander (Aileen), Amanda and Michael; and sister Nancy (Alan) Bartels.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 420 S. Campus Ave., Oxford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent online to www.oglepaulyoungfuneralhome.com
