OBITUARY:
Mrs. Katherine Akers, 84, Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Katherine Akers, 84, formerly of 128 S. Crowder street, died at the Mary Sherman long-term care center at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
She was the co-owner of a variety store here for many years.
Mrs. Akers was a member of the Methodist Church.
Her husband, D.E. Akers, preceded her in death in 1956.
Surviving are two step-sons, Richard P., Sullivan, and Lee, Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Ben Hoffman, Sheridan, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Alice Evans, Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Tennis Funeral Home where private services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with private graveside rites at Center Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Green will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
