Ronald B. Ainsworth of Gautier, Mississippi passed away November 11, 2017.
Ronald was born in Laurel, Mississippi on February 17, 1932. He moved to Saucier, Mississippi where he graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1949 and also met his wife, Catherine Rouse, who he was married to for 53 years. For a period of seven years he served in the United States Army with assignments in Indiana, Germany, and California.
Mr. Ainsworth graduated from McNeese State with a Bachelor's degree, followed by a Masters from what is currently Louisiana-Lafayette. He also completed additional graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi. While a teacher at LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana he was named Teacher of the Year for the 1969-1970 school year, Additionally, the 1998 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College yearbook was dedicated to Mr. Ainsworth. His teaching career at MGCCC spanned twenty-eight years.
Mr. Ainsworth was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Catherine Rouse Ainsworth, his father, Walter Ainsworth, his mother, Joyce Callahan, his step-mother, Hazel Ainsworth, as well as his brother, Norman, and sisters, Maureen Gallegos and Marlene Ainsworth and a son-in-law, Malcolm Parlin.
Ronald is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Parlin of Ocean Springs, Deborah Waltman (Bobby) of Vancleave, Cynthia Waltman (Robert) of Vancleave; sons, Michael Ainsworth of Houston, TX, and Larry Ainsworth (Leigh Ann) of Hattiesburg, as well as sisters, Bettye Jones (Roy) , Waldene Thacker and a brother, Thomas "Butch" Ainsworth (Pam) all of Gulfport. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Joshua Parlin (Gina), Judd Parlin, Jaclyn Johnson (Rodney), Jennifer Landry (Ronnie), Mandy Suckow, Bo Waltman, Tyler Waltman (Kendra), Christina Waltman-Flynt (Brad), Wesley Waltman, Catherine Elizabeth Ainsworth and 14 great-grandchidlren; an d numerous other family and friends.
The visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 6-8 pm at United Methodist Church in Gautier, MS . Funeral Service will be Wednesday, Nov 15 also at the church at 10 am. Graveside Service with military honors will conclude at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs.
