Karla Jene Bennett Edwards
HOLLISTER -- Karla Jene Bennett Edwards of Hollister, Idaho, left this world peacefully on July 16, 2005, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. She was 47 years old. Karla was born at the Cottage Hospital in Burley, Idaho, on Dec. 28, 1957. She was the first-born child of Lee Edward and Verna Hopkins Bennett. She attended schools in Raft River and Oakley, graduating from Oakley High School in 1976. Karla married Lonnie Dean Edwards on Dec. 24, 1977, in Burley, Idaho. To this marriage were four children, Richard Kodi, Lonnie Dean II, Jennie Leanne and Katherine Jene. Karla and Lonnie raised their family in Filer, eventually moving to Hollister, where they have since resided. Karla was active in her community, having served two terms as the mayor of Hollister. She also enjoyed substitute teaching, until poor health forced her to retire. She is survived by her loving husband, Lonnie of Hollister; her children, Kodi Carrie of Noble, Okla., Lonnie Ertha of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jennie Edward Pastoor II of Hollister, Idaho, and Katherine Joe Bassler of Twin Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly, Brooke Lynn, Brittnee, Edward, Elliott, Dareon and Ethan; her parents, Lee and Verna Bennett of Oakley, Idaho; a sister, Donna Thomas McBride, also of Oakley; and a brother, Lee Lora Bennett of Savannah, Ga.; as well as her mother-in-law, Flora Henley, five brothers-in-law and their wives and three sisters-in-law and their husbands and families of Oklahoma, California and Idaho. A celebration of Karla's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls, with Thomas McBride conducting. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening with family to greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel of Twin Falls.
