Donald G. Stearns Sr., 85, of 15 N. Pearl St. Frewsburg, passed away Monday (Oct. 30, 2017) at his home.

He was born Sept. 19, 1932, in South Dayton, the son of Gordon and Bertha White Stearns.

Before retiring, he had been employed at the former Chautauqua Hardware.

Don was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He enjoyed photography, astronomy, reading and all shooting sports.

Don is survived by his children: Donald Jr. (Lori) Stearns of Russell, Pa., Jeffrey Stearns of Frewsburg, Kelly Stearns of Edgewater, Md., and Michael Stearns; three grandchildren: Megan Jones, Taylor Coleman, and Justin Stearns; two great-grandchildren: Riley Stearns and Cole Jones; and a brother, David Stearns of Oregon.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard; and a sister, Thelma.

No services or visitation will be observed. The Peterson Funeral Home in Frewsburg is in charge of arrangements.
