Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 2 Feb 1882 p2: "EXPLOSION AT THE KENNEBEC FRAMING COMPANY WORKS---...The men had been at work nearly an hour when they found the lifeless body of Noah Rice, unmarried, the time keeper of the Company, and the son of ex-warden Rice. When found, the body was in an upright position, by the wall of the btacksmith [sic] shop next to the boiler room. He was probably killed instantly, as deep wounds were on his forehead and on the back of his head. He was badly scalded, and so disfigured that he was identified only by his clothing..."
