POLK — Tammy M. Fleming, 55, of Polk died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Merrick Medical Center in Central City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks, with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Arborville Cemetery near Polk. Solt Wagner Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.
Tammy Maria was born on Oct. 30, 1962, in Denver, Colo., to Rudy Lopez and Phyllis (Knight) Johnson. Tammy grew up in the Central City area and attended Central City Public Schools until her sophomore year, when she moved to Polk and graduated from Polk High School in 1981.
Following graduation, Tammy attended UNL for a year, then moved back to Polk to help care for her ill mother. While in Polk, she worked at Coach’s Corner, as well as Diamond Plastics in Grand Island.
On Sept. 18, 1990, Tammy married Mike Fleming in Las Vegas. They made their home in the Polk area, where she would stay at home raising their four children.
Tammy was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks, as well as the Altar Society. She enjoyed coaching Little League baseball in Polk, gardening, canning and tending to her lawn. Her greatest love was being able to attend her children’s sporting events and getting to be around her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mike Fleming of Polk; her children, Ashley Fleming of Polk, Ethan Fleming of McCool Junction, Logan Fleming of Yankton, S.D., and Wyatt Fleming of Polk; a sister, Liz Burr of Iowa; a half-sister, Sarah Justice of Lincoln; an aunt, Judy (John) Griego of Marquette; and her stepdad, Duane (Marge) Johnson of Polk.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Johnson, and her grandparents, Paul and Maria Bauer.
