Karen Lynn Reed passed on to join our Heavenly Father, her husband Bob and many of her other family on November 4, 2017. She was born June 04, 1937 in Porterville, California to George and Shirley Bastian.
She resided in Porterville all of her life having attended Hope School, Porterville High School, Porterville College and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University Fresno. She was married 55 years to the love of her life, Robert Joe Luis Reed. Karen is survived by her sons, Ryan Reed (Karen), Brent Reed (Julie); granddaughters, Kalyn Ede (Sam), Makayla Reed, Haley Reed (Jerry); grandson, Trent Reed; great grandson, Jay; sister, Patricia Elam (George); brother, Ted Bastian (Linda) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Karen was a kindergarten school teacher at Hope School and Pleasant View School for 35 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and SETCO Federation of Republican Women. She loved children and was a mentor and role model for many of the children she taught.
Karen rarely missed attending her grandkids sporting and dancing events. She enjoyed her Lunch Bunch, traveling to visit friends, spending time at her mountain cabin, reading and tending her garden. She was an avid basketball fan and especially enjoyed watching the Warriors games with her sister. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
Graveside service will be held at Vandalia Cemetery in Porterville, California on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
